Seeding Freedom
Challenging Power, Building Communities
The 4th edition of Berlin’s only ecofeminist festival is here! Join Seeding Freedom festival on Saturday 30 May 2026 in Berlin at Hotel Continental - Art Space in Exile for a free and intersectional event.
Challenging Power, Building Communities
Seeding Freedom Festival is a community-driven event at the crossroads of politics, art, and joy.
This year, Reclaim’s ecofeminist festival calls us to confront systems of domination head-on while nurturing the solidarities that sustain our struggles.
From the frontlines of resistance to spaces of collective care, we will come together to reclaim power, strengthen our resistance movements, and pave the way for the communities we need.
Where resistance takes root, communities rise!
EXPLORE THE PROGRAMME
Rooted in ecofeminism, the festival is an inclusive and safer space for collective resistance and radical imagination, where we challenge oppressive systems and cultivate new possibilities for a just and sustainable future for all.
Join us to think, debate, and co-create alternatives through a multidisciplinary approach, with artistic, political and interactive workshops, conferences, self-managed stands, music, vegan food, and more.
Seeding Freedom Festival is a free admission event that aims to amplify marginalised voices and plant the roots of resistance through the power of community and solidarity.
How do I register for workshops?
Seeding Freedom is a free admission event. Workshops without a capacity limit do not require registration.
To ensure fair access to workshops with limited capacity, registrations will open on-site only in two separate waves throughout the day at the Welcome Desk:
Morning release: 50% of workshop spots will open for registration at the start of the event.
Final release: The remaining 50% of spots will become available one hour before each workshop begins.
This system is designed to give everyone — including participants arriving later in the day — an equal opportunity to join their preferred sessions.
Who is this event for?
Seeding Freedom Festival is open to everyone—people of all ages, backgrounds, and knowledge levels.
No prior knowledge is required, and all levels of understanding are embraced. The programme includes indications of what participants can expect to explore in each activity, so everyone can choose sessions that align with their interests and the depth of learning they’re looking for.
The workshops and activities will primarily be held in English, with some also offered in German.
This event is child and dog-friendly.
Accessibility and inclusion at the festival
We are committed to making the festival accessible to all, with dedicated support for visible and invisible disabilities. This event is wheelchair-accessible and uses the Sunflower Lanyard to raise awareness about hidden disabilities.

Table talk with
Özgül Demiralp, Journalist & Co-founder of Reclaim - Ecofeminist Alliance e.V."Everyone wants a village, but no one wants to be a villager.”
We long for support, belonging, and shared care, yet under capitalism, interpersonal care is gendered, individualised, and pushed into private households. This participative table talk asks why we desperately need community and the redefinition of social bonds, and why building it can be so difficult. Drawing on working-class, queer, and marginalised experiences, together we will explore concepts such as family abolition, interdependence and inconvenience, and the communising of care. What if community is the basis of collective power and revolution?
Please note: This is a participatory table talk with a guided discussion, open to all levels of knowledge and experiences. You are warmly welcome to contribute, reflect and share -, or simply listen.

Sharing circle with
Reclaim - Ecofeminist Alliance e.V.Heterosexuality is not just a sexual orientation. It's a system that hierarchises sexes to put some at the service of others. It's a domination system that shapes our desires, relationships, and sense of self. This sharing circle is open to anyone questioning these norms: people who have experienced exclusively heterosexual relationships and are exploring their queerness, as well as queer people seeking to unlearn heteropatriarchal patterns. Together and in a confidential setting, we'll share about our experiences and open space for other ways of loving, living, and being.
Location: Community Room
Language: English
Open to: Queer people or people exploring queerness
Capacity: 24 (there will be two groups of 12 participants each max.)

Presentation and guided discussion with
Andrea Volken, Ecofeminist Writer, Researcher & EducatorThis session explores how industrial animal agriculture, food ethics, and care work intersect. Through an ecofeminist lens, we’ll look at how systems like dairy production rely on forms of invisibility — what ecofeminists call the “absent referent.” From there, we open a guided discussion: Who carries the responsibility for ethical consumption? How are these expectations shaped by gender, access, and labour? And is there space for imperfection? This is not a prescriptive talk, but an invitation to think together about food, responsibility, and how we learn to see — or not see — harm.

Keynote video with
Dr. Manal Shqair, Palestinian Activist & ScholarDrawing from the Palestinian decolonial praxis of eco-sumud (eco-steadfastness), Dr. Manal Shqair presents a vision of liberation in Palestine from a gendered and environmental perspective. Drawing from the experiences of male and female farmers and shepherds in Palestine, the concept of eco-sumud reflects the traditional knowledge, land-based practices, cultural values and rituals, and social relations Palestinians utilise for anti-colonial resistance. Eco-sumud shows the dynamism and adaptability of agrarian communities to maintain a sustainable relationship with the non-human world in response to ongoing Israeli settler-colonial dispossession, including environmental destruction.
This video keynote will be screened throughout the day in the lobby.

-
We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or nationality. Any behaviour that undermines the dignity of another person will not be accepted and will be addressed immediately.
-
Consent is paramount. Only "yes" means yes. It is important to remember that consent can be withdrawn at any time, and boundaries must be respected without question
-
A person's external appearance does not indicate their gender identity. Use the pronouns that people have chosen for themselves (they can be mentioned in your introduction for example), or strive to use gender-neutral language. It is important to recognise and respect each person's self-identified gender and to avoid making assumptions based on appearance.
-
We ask all festival participants to contribute to creating a safer space by:
Treating everyone with kindness and respect.
Actively listening and valuing diverse perspectives.
Challenging discriminatory behaviour and supporting those affected.
Being mindful of the space you take.
Being mindful of personal space and boundaries.
Being open to challenging your own attitudes, language, and vision.
